This circular walk starts on the top of the Sintra mountain by the Peninha Sanctuary with great views all along the coast. After the sanctuary, a longish downhill takes you to a beautiful, cool forest. The part of the trail that leads to Adre Nunes uses for a moment the same path going and coming. Once you arrive to Adre Nunes, the views are, once again, amazing. This is the trail where many of the Sintra photos are taken with the special light, with sun rays filtering through the tall trees and the misty, magic-like mornings. The markings (both the painted and the wooden signs) on this route were revised in 2018. This is a great walk for every season as it is mainly in the shade and keeps cool even in the summer. No busses go to Peninha, but there is a large parking area in the beginning of the trail for private cars. Best car access is through Colares ou Malveira da Serra. (Please notice that access for vehicles is barred during high forest fire hazard).
This route is created and maintained by the City of Sintra.
