Short Route
This short walk through Northwest part of Sintra village takes you by the most emblematic and traditional estates and manor or farmhouses of Sintra (=Quintas). It goes along the main road until Quinta da Regaleira, where it separates and begins to descend. All of the estates have fabulous gardens that you can get a glimpse of over the walls, some have famous, old trees on the property, such as the cork tree of Quinta do Relogio and the chestnut tree of the Quinta named after it, Quinta do Castanheiro. This is an easy trail, always on a road; the first half and the end are paved, the middle part is a gravel road.
For a more complete visit of the Historic Center, complement this route with the PR1 that goes through the centre and to the upper part of the village (Southeast).
This route is created and maintained by the City of Sintra.
