Trail Description

This circular route is just under 1 kilometer long. It is easy and suitable for everyone in the family. The path starts right above the Monserrate picnic area and circles the beautiful ponds, the watering system of the Palace grounds. As it is in the shade it is suitable for walking all year long. The 1st 100 meters are on cobblestone, after which the trail follows well-kept forest paths. It is sign-posted with wooden arrows and has several information boards along the path with different types of information about the history and evolution of the forest and the mountain, water and food cycles, the underground cave lives and forest animals.

  • Visit the Monserrate Palace and Park
  • Keep a look out for the wooden sculptures of forest animals along the path
  • Combine this path with the walk to Capuchos Convent or to the coast
