Trail Description

Caminho do Mar is a pilgrimage route to Fátima promoted by the Centro Nacional de Cultura. It enters Sintra from Cascais near the Mula dam and Penha Longa resort on the mountain. The 30 kms that are in Sintra pass mainly on quiet roads avoiding traffic, but also on single lane paths and gravel roads. There are blue arrows painted on walls and electric poles to help the navigation, alongside yellow arrows, as this part of the caminho also is a way to connect with the routes to Santiago de Compostela. This route is perfect to use if you are planning to hike all around Sintra. The whole trail from Cascais to Fátima is about 205kms long and the markings more to the North are still partially underway.
