Trail Description

This linear walk starts from the Historic Center and ends on Adraga Beach of the Coastal village of Almoçageme. Leaving the Historic Center passing by several old quintas, this hike uses quiet roads and mountain paths and passes by Monserrate palace and the villages of Eugaria, Jigaroz and Penedo. Expect beautiful scenery and wonderful views, pine forests and bamboo closer to the coast. This is a great path to use to visit some of the vineyards in Almoçageme. If you prefer going to Praia Grande (North)or Cabo da Roca (South), you can switch to the PR7 path in Almoçageme near the firestation. Also, if you wish to shorten your walk by 1 km, you can walk to Monserrate on the N-375 (Barbosa do Bocage / Estrada nova da Rainha) or by 4 kms, take the 435 bus from the Historic Center to Monserrate and start your walk from there.

Our suggestions
  • Visit Palace and Park of Monserrate on the way
  • Include the 1 km Eco Trail of Monserrate in your walk
  • There are public bathrooms and a water fountain near the road in Jigaro
Where to Eat & Drink
Refugio do Ciclista

In the middle of the mountain, in the village of Penedo, this lunch restaurant started mainly catering  for cyclists. It has a visual menu (you choose your cut from the vitrine to grill).  It is a very local, very typical restaurant with great grilled food! Closed on Sundays and bank holidays.  Tel 219 280 088
